NeoVoce Philharmonic Choir
Mississauga, ON – August 10, 2025 — The NeoVoce Philharmonic Choir brought music, dance, and art together at the Living Arts Centre for Senior Artistry Day, a vibrant celebration of the creativity and vitality of senior artists in the community. The afternoon-long event, held from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, attracted nearly 200 participants, including performers, dignitaries, and art enthusiasts.
The program opened with a warm welcome and artist sign-in, followed by an Opening Ceremony led by Pamela Li and Jason Peng. Distinguished speakers included Deputy Mayor of Mississauga John Kovac, Mississauga Arts Council Executive Director Mike Douglas, ArtTrendZ Artistic Director Christine Long, and NeoVoce Philharmonic Choir Vice President Jason Peng.
The performances highlighted rich cultural diversity, beginning with the choir’s rendition of the Italian folk songs Beautiful Village and Longing. This was followed by the Jiahua Performing Arts Group’s Mongolian dance Morigele River, and a hulusi solo “Sheng Sheng Man” by Cynthia, accompanied by a catwalk dance presented by the Mississauga Chinese Arts Organization.
From 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, the Senior Art Workshop invited attendees to explore their creativity through hands-on painting and craft-making under the guidance of experienced artists. On-site instruction included traditional Chinese painting by Ren Ya, watercolor painting by Khaula Mazhar, Rasheeda Motiwala and Ellie Azimian, and handicraft-making led by Wendy Machry, Saba Syed, Karin Weber, and Ya Li.
The event concluded with an exhibition of seniors’ artwork, a group photo, and closing remarks from the NeoVoce Philharmonic Choir.
Organized by a dedicated volunteer team, Senior Artistry Day not only celebrated artistic excellence but also strengthened cultural exchange, fostered community connections, and empowered senior artists to share their talents with the public.
This event also received active participation and strong support from representatives of the following organizations: Canada-China Seniors Association, Mississauga Chinese Arts Organization, Golden Maple Seniors Association, New World Seniors Association, and Maple Leaf Cultural Association.
We would like to thank the funding sponsors of this event: the Federal Government’s New Horizons for Seniors Program and the Mississauga Arts Council’s MicroGrant.
Visiting guests offered high praise and congratulations for the success of the event:
