Artistic Director & Conductor Leo Li has once again been invited to lead NeoVoce Philharmonic Choir (NPC) in the Lunar New Year Concert—"Looking Ahead - WE SING!"—hosted by the Canadian Opera Study & Appreciation (COSA) Center. Through the power of music, the choir will extend heartfelt New Year blessings to the audience!
At last year’s concert, Xīnshēng Àiyuè Choir captivated the audience with two iconic Chinese choral pieces:
A choral adaptation of "The Song of the Yue Boatman," one of China’s earliest translated poems.
"Picking Tea," a lively and joyous folk song from Fujian province.
This year, the choir will once again bring the enchanting essence of Eastern music to the stage with three distinctive Chinese choral masterpieces:
A lyrical piece inspired by classical Chinese poetry
A moving composition rich in modern poetic imagery
A vibrant choral work infused with traditional folk elements
Join us at the concert to experience the magic of this year's repertoire!
For this special performance, NeoVoce Philharmonic Choir will share the stage with two professional student choirs from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Music and a university student choir club. As the only community choir in the lineup, NeoVoce Philharmonic Choir will embrace this unique opportunity to engage in musical exchange with student ensembles, fostering artistic growth and broadening its musical horizons.
We look forward to celebrating the Chinese New Year with you through the beauty of choral music! 🎶🎊
With heartfelt choral and solo performances, we usher in the Year of the Snake with a beautiful prelude, sharing the joy and hope of the New Year!
From classical to contemporary, from East to West, a harmonious blend of musical styles will illuminate the stage, showcasing the beauty of cultural diversity and artistic fusion!
As we welcome the vibrant and promising Year of the Snake, let us come together in the beauty of melody and harmony. We look forward to celebrating this joyous occasion with you—may our songs be the first rays of sunshine in the New Year, illuminating hope for the future!
