On the afternoon of December 3 & 5, the Nevo Philharmonic Choir Charity Performance Team visited Halton Community Housing in Burlington, bringing warmth, love, and blessings to the elderly with their second performance of this music season. The event attracted 43 elderly residents and 8 staff members, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere. Burlington City Councillors Lisa Kerns and Paul Sherman attended the entire performance and delivered remarks before and after the show, expressing gratitude and appreciation for the group's visit.
Nevo Philharmonic Choir’s leader, Li Xiaodong, introduced the mission of the Nevo Philharmonic Choir to the councillors and residents, while extending heartfelt holiday greetings to all.
The performance featured a rich variety of artistic forms, including choral singing, solo singing, instrumental performances, and dance routines. The diverse and engaging lineup fully showcased the talents and enthusiasm of the Nevo Phiharmony Choir team.
Opening Act: "Jasmine Flower" + Qipao Show
The show opened with an elegant performance of the song "Jasmine Flower" led by Niu Yun, combined with a stunning Qipao fashion show led by Yu. Their brilliant performance captivated the audience right from the start.
Choral Performances
Several Christmas choral pieces were performed, including Silent Night, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and Last Christmas. Each song featured a unique combination of costumes and themes, alternating between solemn, colorful, and playful moods, offering the audience a rich visual and auditory experience.
Dance Performances
Yu and Grace's graceful duet dance performance seamlessly combined Mongolian, Western, and modern dance styles. Their elegant movements and charming stage presence won the hearts of the elderly audience.
Instrumental and Solo Performances
Henry's violin solo, Serenade, filled the air with its melodious sound, leaving a lasting impression. Meanwhile, soulful solo vocal performances by Li Xiaodong, Zhu Juan, and Gordon deeply resonated with the elderly residents, many of whom quietly sang along.
Interactive Theatrical Performance
The lively performance of Do-Re-Mi was a blend of singing, dancing, and skit acting. The performers interacted closely with the front-row elderly audience, creating a joyful and heartwarming scene filled with smiles and laughter.
Grand Finale: Group Sing-Along and Dance Party
The finale featured a group sing-along of Silent Night, led by Zhou Wei and Cao Jin, and culminated in the entire cast and audience singing We Wish You a Merry Christmas and Last Christmas together. Elderly residents, staff, and performers danced hand in hand, bringing the festive atmosphere to its peak. Many elderly residents were reluctant to leave, expressing their hope to see the NeoVoce team perform again.
The event was well-organized, with clear roles and responsibilities that ensured its smooth execution.
